Avoid Snake Bite (Devotional)

Ecclesiastes 10:8 says, “He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.”
Satan wishes to paralyze the believer with his venomous bite of sin. This bite is so toxic that it causes the believer to walk in iniquity. By falling into agreement with sin, we cut off the favor and blessings of God in our lives and enable Satan to overcome us. We give him dominion to bring spiritual and physical defeat in our lives.
When we do the will of God, there in a hedge of protection around us that gives us spiritual and physical security. Psalms 119:133 says, “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” Sin can’t have dominion over us as long as we walk in obedience to the Word of God. You as a born-again believer have the power to overcome the enemy. Jesus said in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Don’t let any unsightly addictions, sinful habits, lust, fear, jealousy, hatred or bitterness have power over you. Let this week be the week that you decide that sin will no longer control you! As long as we abide under the Shadow of the Almighty, He will equip us to tread upon the lion, adder, young lion, and the dragon (Psalms 91:1, 13). The Holy Spirit is able to keep you from falling.

  1. We give Satan our authority when we cooperate with him. The only power he has is the power of deception. He is counting on us not knowing our Scriptures.

Do you know why certain laws and some precursors to the mark of the beast have not passed? Because there are still alive who were raised in the church and raised to read and believe in God's word. Most of the people are old. While Satan knows the time is short, he knows he has time to wait for the majority of Christians to die as he attacks the younger generation.

The book of Psalms says God holds His word in higher esteem than His name. Stay strong in His word! T. W.
